Good morning. I want to talk a moment about a mystery, most crucial mystery, I think, in our spiritual journey. And it comes from an event that happened in history. And there was a moment when everything was right. It was years and years and years of God working with his people. And then he just dropped this sort of bomb, in a way, and said, I promised you something.

I promised something will come into your life that’s going to change everything. It’s called a Messiah. It’s going to do away with the rules and laws and the way it was rigidly held. It’s going to do away with the way the temple has been acting for a long time. It’s a whole new world, and it’s called incarnation. God entering into the human race.

And for as long as I can remember, I thought, well, that’s really amazing that God would come and dwell on this planet. But it never dawned on me until much later in my spiritual journey that what this is really saying is that you and I, we have this incredible invitation to live as Jesus lived on this earth. That the humanity that Jesus had, which was pure humanity, he was 100% human. Into that flowed this powerful presence of God. And you know, when you think about it, that’s happening to you and me. That’s what a spiritual life is.

It’s a combination of you engaging with this fullness of humanity. At the same time, the fullness of divinity. And you know what’s so beautiful? They’re made for each other. They’re absolutely made for each other. There was a way in which I used to think that sin enters into the world.

It makes this big dichotomy between us and. And God. And that was all before redemption. Redemption comes. And there’s no chasm between God in me and my humanity melding together and resonating life. What a gift.

And what a terrible mistake we make when we don’t realize the incarnation is not about something that happened to Jesus. It’s happening to you today. So have a good day.
