The Gospel for Saturday of the 34th week in ordinary time is taken from Luke 21:34, 36 Jesus said to his disciples, beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life. And that day may catch you by surprise like a trap, for that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man. One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is full consciousness, understanding the nature of life, understanding the nature of the kingdom. It is always going to include things that are destructive seemingly, and that they are dangerous and destructive to us. And we have to be ready to understand that.
That’s part of the process. Other times it’s everything is working and we’re filled with gratitude. That’s part of the process. So always we need to be vigilant. Everything has its purpose, everything has its time. And always the intention of the God who created us and allows our life to be what it is, is because of his love.
After the music, I will close with a pray. Closing prayer Father, everything has its place. Everything is for us, no matter what it is. Difficulty, pain, joy, enthusiasm. Help us to stay with you in all that you offer us so we truly can grow in the kingdom of God. And we ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
