The Gospel for Saturday of the second week of Easter is taken from St. John 6:16, 21st verse when it was evening, the disciples went down to the sea, embarked in a boat and went across the sea to Capernaum. It had already grown dark and Jesus had not yet come to them. The sea was stirred up because a strong wind was blowing. And when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea, coming near to the boat. And they began to be afraid.

But he said to them, it is I do not be afraid. They wanted to take him into the boat, but the boat immediately arrived at the shore to which they were heading. I think there are times when we feel overwhelmed and there’s darkness and there’s fear and then we don’t know what to do and we’re confused and then all of a sudden grace enters in and the thing we want is accomplished and we don’t know how. That’s what this miracle is trying to say to you and to me. Trust that God is most often felt in the darkness. It is his grace that gets us to our destination.

Other Fear often accompanies us when we are dealing with things that are beyond our understanding and control. Remove that fear. Fill us with hope. Trust a conviction that we are never alone. And we ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
