The Gospel for Wednesday of the sixth week of Easter is taken from St. John 16. Jesus said to his disciples, I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of Truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me as he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.

Everything that the Father has is mine. For this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine, declare it to you. What Jesus is revealing is that there is something about human nature that needs to evolve and grow and change in order to receive the fullness of the message. The gift of the Holy Spirit reminds us that this work of our understanding who God really is is never complete. Everything that we need as far as information has already been given. But understanding, fathoming the depth of what this God is trying to share with us, that’s a process that’s continuing and will continue long after us.

But we need to know that there is something always new coming into human consciousness as we ponder these words with the help of the Holy Spirit. Wisdom. It goes so far beyond the limits of the mind to understand. That’s the work that we’re doing every time we open the word and ask for understanding. Foreign Closing Prayer Father, there is something so beautiful about the work of the Holy Spirit in our life. Help us to be more attentive to this great gift.

Knowing it is always opening our hearts and minds to more and more that enables us to live in this world as you’ve called us to live in it, and to be instruments of bringing light and truth to all. We meet and we ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
