The Gospel for The feast of St. John Vianney is taken from Matthew 13:54. 58 verse Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds? Is he not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother named Mary?

And his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas are not his sisters all with us? Where did this man get all this? And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, a prophet is not without honor except in his native place in his own house. And he did not work many might deeds there because of their lack of faith. What I love about this gospel is the way it makes clear that God uses whoever he wants to bring a message to you.

It’s true that we think that messages can only come from the people that are, let’s say, saints in the past or some high ranking official in a religious circle of people. No, he can speak and does speak so clearly through so many ordinary people in ordinary circumstances. Just know that he’s always longing to share his truth with your heart. Satan. Satan. Sam.

Satan. Satan. Satan. Father, open our eyes, our hearts, so that we can receive all the signs and wonders that you’re performing around us. Help us to be open to everything and everyone. And we ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
