The Gospel for Saturday the memorial of St. Jerome, Priest and Doctor of the Church is taken from Luke 9:43, 45th verse while they were all amazed at his every deed, Jesus said to his disciples, pay attention to what I’m telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men. But they did not understand this saying. Its meaning was hidden from them so that they should not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying. The beauty of this passage is that Jesus knows us, he knew his disciples, and he wasn’t going to ask them to ponder something that they couldn’t possibly deal with.

He does the same with you and me. He reveals to us just enough to take us to a new level of understanding, but never asks more of us than we can do. Foreign Closing Prayer Father, if we find things too difficult for us, we need to wait. Wait for the ways in which God will open our hearts, open our mind to ideas that seem so foreign to what we’ve learned. Bless us with patience, bless us with hope that everything that we need will be revealed to us. And we ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
