The Gospel for Wednesday of the 27th week in Ordinary Time is taken from Luke 11. Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, lord, teach us to pray. Just as John taught his disciples. He said to them, when you pray, say, father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us and do not subject us to the final test. What strikes me is how short this prayer is that God could say in so few words the heart of what he longs to accomplish in this world.
A kingdom, a way of life filled with the sense of God’s divinity with us, his holiness and his invitation that we be empowered to forgive our brothers and sisters and create this kingdom of peace and wholeness. Sam Closing Prayer Father, create this prayer within our hearts so that is our intention as we walk this earth. Help us to be always seeking the wisdom of God flowing through us, healing, forgiving and establishing his kingdom. And we ask this in Jesus name, amen.
