The Gospel for Monday of the 33rd week in ordinary time is taken from Luke 18:35, 43 verse as Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside, begging and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening. They told him, jesus of Nazareth is passing by. He shouted, jesus, son of David, have pity on me. The people walking in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he kept calling out all the more, son of David, have pity on me. Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him.

And when he came near, Jesus asked him, what do you want me to do for you? He replied, lord, please let me see. Jesus told him, have sight, your faith has saved you. He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God. When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God. There were two miracles that got Jesus into a lot of trouble.

One was healing blind people and raising people from the dead. And these two are really crucial for us to understand the amazing power that Jesus had and that he shares with us now. Opening someone’s eyes seems to be so essential to the whole journey that we have working for the Kingdom of God, because it means we are aware of what’s going on around us. We are conscious of the things that need to be changed. We are persistent in those changes taking place. Enlightenment.

That’s the gift and that’s what’s essential. The Closing Prayer Father, open our eyes to see you as you are and we as we are. Help us to see you working within us. And let us feel and know the joy of bringing enlightenment to our brothers and sisters. And we ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
